Kitchen Shutter Valance

For many years now I have not had a curtain on my kitchen window over my sink.

 Is that bad?

Have any of you left your window lonely with nothing to cover it?

If you remember reading this Farm Fresh Egg Sign Tutorial

......................I put her above this lonely window.

One day I ran to restore and found these cute shutters.

a Score for 3 bucks....

OK they had a few flaws but nothing that Mr Color It Simple could not fix.

The one thing he couldn't fix was this blurry (before) picture I took (grin)

I went to my supplies and thought to myself what was I going to do to this shutter to make it warm and inviting.

Do you love Stained wood?  I love me some stained wood.  So I knew that would be just the ticket

I pulled from my stash of paint goodies my Minwax Special Walnut Stain.................

and my special stain brush.

I proceeded to stain that beauty.  Have you ever tried to paint or stain shutter slats?...

..........well let's just say it was a little tedious!

I pressed on and decided to give it a two toned look so I painted the frame with a cream color.

                                                             I just love it!

Now my farm fresh eggs sign is right at home with the window topper shutter valance

Don't you think they make a great pair?

No more curtain-less window.

So let's talk, tell me about your re-purposed projects made from a shutter

Meet The Briar Patch Kids

Our new Family Members

I feel like Alice in Wonderland.....One day I fell down the rabbit hole and came out into the Briar patch!!!

...where 3 little furry friends greet me every morning

meet the 3 new additions to our family

drum roll please.................

MEET NAPOLEON

Isn't he just the cutest thing, with his little brown nose and pink eyes.

Napoleon is a Californian bunny rabbit....I know what your thinking and NO Silly :) :)

he is not from California that is his breed of rabbit.

He is my little male.... male rabbit and let me tell ya he is a sweet one

.......................and one of the easiest of the three to hold.

Napoleon's favorite thing to do is eat!!!

That boy can put away some food I tell ya.

See while doing his photo shoot he could not resist a little snack.

when it was over 100 degrees it was to hot for my furry friends to be in the heat

so Barry and I brought them all in the house (can you say disaster)

Napole decided he wanted to get frisky with Willow and she wanted NO part of that.

So the feisty girl that she is put him in his place real quick......

clawing, biting, hair flying all over the house ..... he ended up in the corner hunkered down waving his white flag.  She WON!

They are just babies but he had forgotten that.....Male brain cramp...lol

MEET ANNABELLE

Annabelle is the bell of the ball.......She is very prissy and lady like...see  you can just see it in her facial expression

....... she didn't take to us commoners very well at first but now that I have given her her very own name plaque in her favorite color she is quiet happy in her new home.

She has warmed up to us.

This was her first week with us and she was a little camera shy so only one good picture of Annabelle.

Of course ladies we all know that no one should ever post a bad picture of us on the world wide-web

well Annabelle is no different so I respected her wishes. :)

Annabelle is a New Zeland rabbit and no silly~~~~~~ again she is not from New Zealand.

She does however make her rabbit noise with an accent...J/K

And Finally

MEET WILLOW

There is always one in the bunch and this is my rowdy child.  She is quiet rambunctious and oh my

gosh..............

PERSONALITY, PERSONALITY

This girl is a DIVA....she is not camera shy, she welcomed all the attention

........this girl wants everyone to look at her

and pay NO attention to those other silly old rabbits.

Whose Annabelle and Napoleon?

She is the one who adores attention.....she will come running up to the door of her cage for some good

ole' lovin...

she loves her back rubbed and her head....but warning when you try to pick her up she wants to claw

and scratch because she wants to runnnnn.

Willow is a Chinchilla rabbit and I adore her color.

This is our bunnies Briar Patch home.

Of course I had to paint it and pretty it up with flowers and signs.

Home Sweet Rabbit Home!

Until next time,

The Land of Bubbles

One afternoon in the land of bubbles their was a beautiful little girl named......... Kinley Ava.

what is it about bubbles that are so whimsy and magical?

...................that make children swoon for endless summer days of bubble fun!!

...............Kinley, loves, loves playing with her bubbles.

.....................Her Nonna' (that's me :) loves to watch her have fun in bubble land.

So I grabbed Kinley and her bottle of pink bubbles and

.......POOF........ off to bubble land we went.

Can you see her excitement?

I love memories of bubble land.....

I wanted to have and share those special moments for a lifetime..........

.........so I decided to take pictures of all her cute bubbly expressions....

Expressions that only come from the joy a child experiences when blowing bubbles in

......this fairy tale land

It's magical seeing the colors of the rainbow in each bubble as the wind catches them

and carries them into the sunlight

................................ getting lucky enough to let the bubble rest on your nose

She would laugh and play and go for another dip in the pink bubble jar.

watching for the magical bubbles to appear all from her breath...........

.................do it again she would say!!!!!

As Kinley romped through the yard playing with her bubbles.........

................................ I would try ever so quickly to catch her blowing them and chasing them with my new Canon T3I .

...............As she blew and blew she would stop look at me and say FUN!!

She would spin a few circles and say FUN!...............

...............................She would dance in the sunlight going round and round blowing and chasing

making fun bubble memories.

then stop to reach into the bubble jar for another chance at making that big bubble......

Really!  you would have thought we were at Disney World  having a day of fun with all the excitement

she displayed over her $1.00 bottle of pink bubbles.

Here is a video I made of my sunshine ......

This is of another day of fun we had in bubble land

............... but this time with the bubble blower

After the bubble making fun.......

........Kinley and I strolled through the wooded yard

to pick beautiful wildflowers for mommy and the dinner table.

a perfect ending to a perfect day in the land of BUBBLES.

Tell me your bubble stories?

Sophie Ella's Newborn Pictures

My son, Sophie's daddy does photography as a hobby and side job.  These are the pictures he took of his beautiful daughter when she was 4 days old. She was born June 19th, 2012

Aaron Rooks Photography on FaceBook

Do you recognize the name sign??

Remember this post About to POP where I shared the sign I made for their baby shower.

Well, this is her name off the sign use in the pictures....It is so cute don't ya think?

Aaron did such a fantastic job in taking these.

This vintage suitcase was a great find.  My son had told me to be on the look out for one and the day before her photo-shoot I found this beauty at a yard sale for 5 bucks.

I snatched it up........

Does she not look so adorable in the suitcase!!

Honestly guys I never knew how much work went into taking newborn photos until I spent the afternoon with Aaron helping him with her shoot.

ladies this calls for lots of patience.....I mean watching him position her so gently......

then rocking her in place with white noise playing in the back ground to make sure she is in REM sleep.....

The babies have to be in this deep sleep so they can be put into all these cute positions. It takes a lot of hands, assistance  and patience to pull this off ......

and a baby that is in deep sleep of course.

Oh my heavens, is this not sweeeet.  Big sister holding her baby sister all dressed up in the cutest rose colored matching rompers.

Our Sophie love.......

Hope you enjoyed the pictures.
